# Short a Stock

> Deposit the stock, borrow more of it, swap the total into USDC.

A short says: I want USD exposure against a stock I think will fall — including PreStocks that have no other short venue.

## Example

You deposit **2 ANTHROPIC** at 2×.

1. Margin receives 2 ANTHROPIC.
2. Vanna borrows another 2 ANTHROPIC.
3. Jupiter swaps **4 ANTHROPIC** into USDC.
4. Vault holds USDC. Debt is 4 ANTHROPIC plus interest.

If ANTHROPIC falls, your USDC collateral still covers a cheaper buyback. If it rips, health falls.

## Steps

1. Open **Perps** and pick the pair.
2. Select **Short**.
3. Enter stock collateral and leverage.
4. Confirm one signature.
5. Close from the positions table — the app buys the stock back, repays, and withdraws leftover USDC.

Shorting a PreStock is the product. Those names had no perp market. They do now.
